Tidepools Magazine

There are presently no open calls for submissions.

Online submissions:

1. Read all guidelines.
2. Select category below
3. Have payment method handy if you want to enter the contest (non contest entries are free).



Music must be original (no covers).

Music can be submitted via website (MP3 preferred) or a CD can be mailed in.

If mailing, include entry form with CD, and label CD with song titles.

Written Work:

All writing entries must have title and page numbers on each page.

Entries are judged blind. Your name should not appear on or in the work.

Prose must be typed, double spaced, and 3000 words or less.

If mailing, include entry form with written work, your name should not appear on any pages.

Art and Photography

All media are accepted. May be in color or black & white.

Digital images should be 1MB or larger.

Digital photography must have a resolution of at least 300 dpi.  Files must be in JPG format.

Try to avoid visible signatures in photographs of work.

Digital photos of artwork may be submitted here or artwork can be submitted (not framed under glass)  in person and will be photographed by staff.

Entries must be submitted or postmarked by Friday, January 12, 2018.

Winners will be announced by Friday, March 16, 2018.

Entry Fees

Adult entry fee is $6.50 per entry.

Youth entry fee is $4.00 per entry.

PC Students can enter the contest for free.

Non contest entries are free for anyone to enter and are eligible for a chance at publication (but not prize money).

For mail or hand delivery, please make checks or money orders payable to Peninsula College. DO NOT make checks out to Tidepools. Do not mail cash.

Cash Prizes

$100 is the 1st place prize in each adult and PC category in addition to publication. Winners also receive one free copy of the magazine.

2nd and 3rd place adult winners are guaranteed publication and get a free copy of the magazine.

$25 and a free copy of the magazine will be awarded to the 1st place winner in each youth category.
